What will it look like?

No, it wouldn’t look like my design notes. But it may be close!

Few days ago I posted about my idea of Uglypunk - stuff that deliberately looks like the 0e and other games from late 70s / early 80s. You know - typewriter, piss-poor formatting, disgusting art. Basically, Encounter Critical! Maybe some parts of this game will look like this. But I need another typewriter, as my inherited 1930s Remington needs some serious maintenance, if not a rebuild.

I think Death Moon will be quite artpunky. Probably hand-written as well. At least partially. Oh, and also ugly, because my art is ugly. But there’s a chance that a plain-text version will also be made. Eventually. Probably. Maybe. Roll 1d1000 and we’ll see. C’mon, roll it!

I know some people passionately dislike artpunk. That’s okay - they can think whatever they want. Also, fuck them, because I can think whatever I want. I make Death Moon primraily for my own enjoyment but most likely it will be published - maybe someone else will enjoy it as well. Obviously, it will also be hated. For unreadability, for “satanic” imagery, for whatever else. The truth is, you cannot please everyone. And if you try to do it, please seek help, as you’re doing huge harm to yourself. Seriously.

Oh, and there will be little to no hand-holding. The reason is simple - my english sucks. I can write simple rules and streams of consciousness devolving into rants (like this one!). I suck at explaining things. Also, i like more free-form approach to games (you know, rulings not rules and so on) and I encourage everyone to house-rule everything. Well, maybe with an exception of airliner flight manuals…

I do this project for fun. It’s the only thing that matters. Working on it brings me joy. I hope that playtesting will do the same.

I stated it many times before and I will repeat myself until I’m freed from this mortal coil - HAVE FUN. The human world is a bleak, oppressive cesspool. We often focus on things that aren’t fun at all. At least try to change it. No one else can do it for you.
